The first green grass in over two months

With the warm temperatures lately, the leaves that I didn’t have time to rake in early December have re-appeared on the front lawn, along with some green grass.

Although green is a term I use loosely here, as it’s most brown with a lot of salt left over.

On the front parkway, I found a few fast-food paper cups and plastic bags.  In the alley by our garage, I found  a can of Busch beer (NOT mine), more paper, and even some styrofoam packing peanuts.

What a mess.

Changing the game

One of the guys in our promotions department just got his 3rd cell phone number in two years.   He changed the last four digits, AGAIN.

Why?

Female stalkers.  Another bad break-up.

I couldn’t stop laughing about it, as it seems a bit extreme (on the surface) to change your number because of that.  Or is it?

He says he’s never had another problem after the number switches.

A vivid dream – what does it all mean?

Some mornings, I wake up with a dream so VIVID that I lay awake for 5-10 minutes, debating with myself if it’s real or not.

My most memorable, reoccurring dream … I’ve failed to take my last chemistry exam, and have only discovered it now.  Thus, I have to go BACK to high school and complete it all again.

This is the point I wake up, and then debate with myself whether I actually graduated college or not (I did).

This morning, I awoke after not being able to find myself OUT of my high school hallways.  All the while, bogged down with 2 backpacks, a pair of headphones, and lots of books.

I have no idea what it means.

Chili, Firefighters, & Marti Jones this Saturday

This weekend, Marti & I are serving as guest celebrity judges for the Whole Foods Palatine Firefighter Chili Cook-Off.

It’s happening from 12n – 4pm Saturday afternoon @ Whole Foods Market in Palatine (1331 N Rand Rd, just south of Dundee).

Stop by and sample ALL of the guys’ chili, and help us vote.  I’ll bring along some US 99.5 goodies too.

Your favorite new techno toy

I’m always searching for things to make our lives easier.

In early January, I mentioned a “mystery” new product that Jill & I were checking out.  The trial period is now over, and we LOVE it.  As a result, we’ve just dropped our home local & long distance service from the big guys.

For only $20 a year, you get a local phone number, and all local & LD calling.  Caller ID, forwarding, call waiting, voicemail, you name it.  All the features you’re used to.  Plus, international calling to Aunt Liz & Uncle Willie in Scotland is only 2 cents a minute.

Instead of $30-40 a month, we’ll pay $20 a year.  That’s a CHUNK of change saved, and the difference goes right into Roy’s college fund.
