** Kacey Musgraves is trending today for pushing diversity in country music. You might remember she won 2 Grammys last month and is nominated for 5 ACM awards in April, but she’s also received some backlash for her latest hit “Follow Your Arrow.”
She told the Wall Street Journal: “I know I’m not everyone’s cup of tea, and I don’t really want to be. I think if you’re everyone’s cup of tea, that probably means you’re a little bit boring, or you’re not pushing yourself. Music isn’t supposed to be vanilla. It’s not supposed to be something absolutely everyone enjoys. Art is not supposed to be McDonald’s.”
** Kenny Chesney is trending for his involvement in preserving something he loves deeply: the ocean. Kenny announced he’ll serve as an honorary board member for the Coastal Conservation Association’s national marine habitat program, the Building Conservation Trust.
“We have come to a place where everyone needs to get involved if the oceans, the beaches, the sea life is important to us as human beings,” Chesney explained. “No one person can save the world — or the water. But in creating alliances, bringing people who care together and creating projects that can have an impact, we start to slowly protect and build up this important natural resource.”
** Taylor Swift is also trending today because we learned a high profile name of someone she’s collaborating with on her new album project – Ryan Tedder from One Republic!
He said recently in an interview: “I did a little stuff with Taylor, who’s probably the fastest songwriter I ever met in my life. Any idea and you’re like ‘Yeah I don’t know if I like that lyric’ and she’ll have three options, replaced within 10 seconds, she’s like bam bam bam. She’s bit of a prodigy, bit of a songwriting prodigy.”
