It’s all about you, looking forward to 2010!

We’ve been snowed in at the farm for a few days now, and have had the chance to slow down & reflect on 2009 … what a year it’s been.

Big concerts and huge giveaways, great conversations with some of your favorite stars, the best music anywhere, and a lot of fun every day On The Ride Home – here’s to an even bigger, better 2010!

I’m off the air this week, but you can always join the conversation online through my Facebook & Twitter pages.

Plus, if you love Phil Vassar, make sure you check in every afternoon, as you’ll have more chances to win *invitation-only* passes for his Live Country show @ Joe’s Bar next Wednesday (1/6)!

Today marks the beginning of my afternoon show’s 5th year at US 99.5 … and I owe it all to you.

Randy Houser, Brad Paisley, Miller Lite & Smart Kids

Glad to be back from vacation, we had a blast in Wisconsin on Lake Beulah with the extended family.  If you missed any of our hijinks, follow me on Twitter @radiodrew HERE, and you’ll be connected 24/7.

Tomorrow’s a big day – make plans to join me at Arlington Park between 3-7pm, as I broadcast with Randy Houser.  He’s the guy with my favorite song on the radio right now, Boots On, plus the video that is guaranteed to make you smile.  Really.  Watch the video at my webpage HERE.

Then tomorrow night, I have more Brad Paisley Miller Lite Party Deck passes up for grabs with the FNPP @ CC’s Grove in Willow Springs.  We’ll do a pair at 10pm, and again at 11pm.  Details HERE.

Next week, it’s your last two chances to get qualified for the trip to the CMAs in November!  Coors Light Beer N Bags in Island Lake on Tuesday, then Woodstock on Wednesday.  Register between 8-9pm, then 16 teams are randomly-selected to begin play at 9pm.  I want to see you there (directions & more details HERE)!

Lastly, my son is the smartest boy ever.  Yes, I’m biased, but I think you’ll agree.  Is your child even smarter?

Let’s talk about it, today at 3:45pm, on US 99.5 fm and streaming online at US99.com!

Take a moment to look around

Sometimes you have to purposely slow down and enjoy the moments you have.  As I sit next to Roy in his high chair eating “blueberries!” for breakfast right now, I’m reminded of that very statement.

The passing of Michael Jackson also reminded me of this – so sad, what an icon he was.  If you missed any of the memorial, I found the best re-cap HERE … follow me there, and you won’t miss anything else!

Coors Light Beer N Bags is off this week, to make way for all of our NASCAR Race Week events, but we’re back next Tuesday in Joliet … full details HERE.

Speaking of Race Week, I’d love you to join me at the track on Friday.  I’ll be broadcasting from 3-6pm, leading right into the Nationwide Series race!   The Chicagoland Speedway is located just off I-53 in Joliet, south of I-80.

Make it a great day, and we’ll chat after 3pm … plus, I’ll have your last chance at invitation-only Montgomery Gentry passes for Joe’s Bar tomorrow night!

Quick hits

** The new show Parks & Recreation debuts tonight on NBC, right after The Office.  Having Amy Poehler is awesome in itself, but the fact that my father-in-law has been in P&R his entire career … our family can’t WAIT to watch.

** The new LOST BLOG is online now @ US99.com here:  http://tinyurl.com/dlt8cf

** If you follow me on Twitter (www.twitter.com/radiodrew), you’ll get the latest news FIRST.

** My favorite website of the week is The UnClutterer.  Daily tips to unclutter your life, whether in your home, your office, your work, you name it.  Last week, my email experience went through the roof with just a few simple steps.  Give it a shot, you won’t be disappointed.

Let’s chat on the radio, today after 3pm!

A little sunshine is all you need

The entire Walker family is on vacation in Phoenix for sun, baseball, pool, tennis, and a few moments of downtime.

Plus, with them along, that means babysitters for Roy.  :)

As I only have wireless at the clubhouse, this is the only planned blog of the week … but you can follow me on Twitter here & Facebook here.

Make it a great week, we’ll chat soon!

Why Twitter is more than just the “new tech craze”

I’m still learning the ropes of this stuff, but I like it.  Someone else compared it to a classroom where you never have to raise your hand.  If you’re open to it, you can learn more in a few hours on Twitter, than surfing the web all day searching for the same information.  News, traffic, weather, and often, all before it has hit mainstream channels.

Sign up today, and let’s keep in touch.  Any suggestions on making it better?  Fire away.

Until then, let’s tweet together HERE.

The first US 99.5 peeps to Twitter

We talked about it on the show yesterday … have you heard of Twitter yet?  To tweet, for short?

It’s a new, completely simple way to stay connected with your friends, and it’s fun.  You can do it online, from your cell phone, your iPhone, you name it.

Tweet with me here, and let me know your experiences on it.

Also, quick note on Friday’s Party Patrol … we just changed the location.  If you don’t have tickets to Winterfest, join me at Double Jack’s in Algonquin.  It’s a brand-new bar!  Miller Lite prizes & specials, plus all-request country music all night.

I’m blogging a bit earlier in the morning than I usually do.  Roy’s almost finished with breakfast, so it’s play time.

Good thing, as I need a distraction from the new shoveling that will be needed.  Ugh.

I think all this snow does bring out the best in our neighbors though.  Have a neighborly story from the last few weeks?

Let’s talk about it, today after 3pm.

It feels like a lifetime ago

Lots of new TV shows back on the tube this month, with fresh episodes to boot.  Nip/Tuck debuted last night on F/X, although we’ll catch it tonight on TiVo.  90210 had a fresh episode on the CW, and most other shows are back in the swing.

The biggest anticipation at our house?  The return of Lost on ABC on Wednesday, January 21st at 7pm … my wife Jill writes the Lost Blog each year, and plans another round for 2009.  You can catch up on her *very detailed* musings here.

What TV show are YOU most anticipating the return of?  Let’s talk about it, today after 3pm.

Two other show notes:

  • I just found out that Brad Paisley will check in tomorrow afternoon after 6pm.  We last spoke to him at Halloween, so hopefully he’ll have some New Year insight for us.
  • I’ve joined the Twitter world – have you?   It’s just another way to keep in touch, in bite-size pieces.  TWEET away with me at the link above (on the index bar)!

On the show this week:

Two chances to win the Hi-Lo Jackpot (up to $5,000) ... at 5:10 & 5:40!

*Invitation-only* passes to see Rodney Atkins at Joe's Bar next month ... grab 'em at 4:30!

MegaTickets worth $450 (the same 2 seats for all 4 summer shows!) - win at 5:30!

On My Mind...
