Help me with the fuzzy math!

I saw a sign at the coffee shop today, and I’m still puzzled by it!

It said, “2 bagels for $1.29, or 6 bagels for $3.99!”    Shouldn’t it be cheaper to buy more?  In this case, it’s NOT!

Am I missing something here?
